2017 Singing Workshops on Skopelos
The 2017 Singing Workshops on Skopelos are to take place over the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2017 with performances during the following week on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th July.
We are delighted to be joined this year by well-known Greek tenor Stathis Karagiorgis, as well as pianist Nikos Adraskelas from Horto on the Pelion and flautist Eleftheria Fragoudaki from Volos.
Unfortunately, given the natural disaster that befell the island in September 2015, and with ongoing repairs to buildings and roads on the island, there will yet again be no Music Festival this year. Please however check out the Skopelos Music Festival page for information regarding past events.
Participation for the two days of rehearsals as well as in all performances is £60. Music to be performed will be circulated well before the dates and either available to download from the Choral Public Domain Library or will be e-mailed to each participant. Examples of the music rehearsed and performed for the last two years is available below as well as a provisional music list for 2017. Each attendee is expected to have copies of their music with them for the first session. Participation in both performances is not mandatory, however it is preferred. Accommodation and travel arrangements must be made separately. To book a place at the workshops, please download and return the booking form with fee as below.
Rehearsals this year will be, as last year, at Orfeas on 1st July, an indoor arts facility also acting as a cinema and on 2nd July, outdoors at Del Sol, a wonderful site with sea view and a swimming pool for a lunchtime dip! The following performances will be at the Livadiotissa monastery on 4th July and Orfeas on 5th July.
For any further information please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call +44-1832-733417. Also see the Factsheet (from 2013 but nothing has changed) below for travel alternatives to Skopelos. Although the easiest way is to book a direct flight to Skiathos with transfer from there (with hotel, eg via Thompsons), some may prefer the more scenic yet labour-intensive routes via Athens or Thessaloniki and Volos. As from June 2016, there is a direct flying cat from Thessaloniki to Skopelos run by Hellenic Seaways. There are also as from June 2017 direct British Ariways flights from London City Airport to Skiathos.
Also have a look at the singing workshop journal and review for a sanguine opinion of the experience from an attendee in 2015!
